ABANDONED BUILDING ENGAGEMENT SESSION | VICTORIA AND JARED – Victoria and Jared are one of my spectacular wedding couples getting hitched in the upcoming year! For the engagement session, Victoria had the awesome idea to get dressed up and shoot at an abandoned building, but I had no idea what was available in the Delaware area. Thanks to a Facebook suggestion, I found one in Hockessin which used to be an old printing warehouse called the NVF Factory in Yorklyn, DE. This was such a fun shoot as we risked our necks trying to get the best shots and angles on the overly bright and sunny day, haha! But our efforts paid off and the photos are awesome!! In additional to the run-down factory backdrop, we meandered across the street to a quaint little park for some nature shots. Loved shooting these two, loved their photos and I already know I’m going to love their wedding coming up this fall! Enjoy!!
WATERFALL WEDDING | ANDREA AND TORE – There are so many things I enjoyed about this wedding at The Waterfall in Claymont, DE, it’s hard to know where to begin!! So let’s start at the beginning, shall we ……
The girls were decked out in varying beaded dresses and the bride donned her gorgeous lace gown with some fierce Oscar de la Renta heels. While waiting to head off to the first look, the guys looked sharp in their navy tuxes while they sipped on whiskey in their personalized tumblers. After their ceremony, we had extra time before cocktail hour started and grabbed some amazing group and couple portraits. Once I was done photographing all of the unique details that was highlighted by the soft purple uplighting, I entered the cocktail hour where there was a TON of food, the drinks were flowing and the guests were having a blast…..and I was able to capture the vibe perfectly
But aside from all the fabulousness I just described, there were two things that happened during the reception that I had to share. Now, I’ve shot over 150 weddings in the 7 years I’ve been a photographer and I’ve heard my fair share of toasts. But the best man speech at this wedding was by far the best I’ve ever heard! This guy’s comedic timing was insane and everyone, including myself, was crying with laughter. It was awesome!! Then, to top it off, one of the groomsmen had arranged with the band to let him (singing), the groom and a friend (on guitar) perform a song with them. I’ve seen this done only once before so I knew how much of a crowd pleaser this was going to be and they were amazing!!
This was such a fun wedding and a wonderful event to wrap up my crazily busy fall wedding season Cheers!!
DEERFIELD GOLF CLUB WEDDING | MEGAN AND RYAN – I’ve been anticipating this wedding all year long and despite being sick with bronchitis and no voice, I enjoyed every minute with these two!! I met Ryan and Megan for their engagement session in Hoboken, NJ last spring and I knew after spending a few hours with these two lovebirds that their wedding was going to be something special and I was absolutely right! ! Such a chill, laid back vibe throughout the event and was filled with incredibly sweet family members and friends who absolutely enjoyed themselves all evening ☺
After their traditional catholic ceremony, the party started at Deerfield Golf Club. With the talented Jamal Lawson 2nd shooting beside me, we squeezed every drop of sunlight we could from the overcast sky before dusk and moved the portraits inside for some gorgeous on-camera lighting shots in their atrium. After moving through their cocktail hour shooting group shots, we went into the reception room to give them a quick moment alone before all the fun partying began. And party they did!! Aside from the heartfelt toasts and sweet parent dances, the dance floor was packed the entire time. I was actually bummed when it was time for us to go, we were having so much fun capturing all the excitement!! But you know me, I couldn’t leave until I grabbed a couple dramatic off-camera shots outside which are displayed at the end of the post 😉 Definitely check them out!! Congratulations Megan and Ryan, you guys are the best!! xoxox
JERUSALEM MILL VILLAGE ENGAGEMENT | STACEY AND ADAM – As you can tell by these photos, they were shot in the fall, but it’s always “better late then never”, right?!Stacey and Adam kicked off my fall engagement season and boy did we have fun!! I always love shooting at the popular location of Jerusalem Mill Village in Joppa, MD and rise to the challenge to try some difference poses and ideas. With the help of Penny, THE MOST ADORABLE DOG EVER, we accomplished that goal and had a blast doing it! Enoy this sweet engagement session and I cannot wait for these two to tie the knot this spring!!!!
OVERHILLS MANSION WEDDING | MELISSA AND SCOTT WEDDING – I don’t do a lot of weddings after dark, but when I do…..oh my!! Love the light and all the shadows. It adds some beautiful drama to these fabulous photos!! This was my 2nd time at Overhills Mansion in Catonsville, MD and I had the pleasure to work with Heather Kelly, my beautiful and talented 2nd photographer for the evening. I had so much fun at this wedding and you can tell by the pics how much everyone else did too! Congratulations Melissa and Scott xoxoxox
